Snodland had a bad day at the office as they lost to an impressive AFC Greenwich Borough, this after a heroic performance last week in the cup and Tuesday night’s game against Bearsted.

Greenwich got off to a great start when they scored in the third minute when Bradley Ryan received the ball on the edge of the area and from twenty yards saw his shot beat Frankie Leonard.

In the 8^th minute Snodland could and should have scored when Chris Alhassan in the area was tackled but the ball came to Emmanuel Shoderu but his weak shot from six yards was saved by Javern Pitterson.

Greenwich were enjoying the lion’s share of possession and in the 12^thminute nearly doubled their lead when Arthur Penney saw his twenty-two-yard shot beat Leonard but went just past the post. In the 24^th minute came a contentious moment as Alhassan appeared to be elbowed in the face by Malik Sesay but only a yellow card was given.

The game went a little scrappy, but Greenwich were still the team in charge and in the 42^nd minute Joshua Shonibare in the area saw his shot/cross go right across the area with no one close to tap into the net then a minute later Tom Jones saw his twenty-yard effort saved.

In the first minute of added on time again Jones running forward saw his shot go past the post. In the fourth minute of added on time Tyler Jackson saw his eighteen-yard free kick saved and then in the next minute which would be the last of the first half Jones in the area saw his six-yard jab saved by Leonard’s chest.

The second half saw Snodland come out a bit better than the first while Greenwich would sit on their lead while enjoying counter attacks.

In the 46^th minute Shoderu twenty yards out saw his shot tipped over the bar by Pitterson. On the hour the game changed when Jones was sent off for a challenge on Harry Hudson maybe the referee remembered the incident in the first half.

Snodland now had a chance to get an equaliser and in the 68^th minute Jackson from twenty-five yards saw his shot saved by Pitterson then Shoderu ten minutes later saw his shot from twenty yards go just over the bar.

In the 82^nd minute a free kick into the area was tipped over the bar then four minutes later they thought they had equalised when a free kick to the back post was headed back towards goal and was bundled into the net but the joy lasted ten seconds as a free kick was given for a foul on Pitterson.

The final minutes saw Snodland throw everything at Greenwich but to no avail as the final whistle went and to be truthful, they could have been out there for another hour without scoring and another fact that Snodland would like to change is that the last three times they have had a one man advantage they have lost the game.
