A late equaliser denied the Fleet after Daniel Ogunleye’s first goal for the club put the visitors on a path to victory but despite a number of chances, the three points eluded Josh Wright’s side.

The Fleet’s unbeaten start to the campaign continues, however, ahead of a switch to Emirates FA Cup football this weekend.

Josh Wright made three changes following Saturday’s win which saw Daniel Ogunleye, Camron Gbadebo and Toby Edser return to the starting eleven in place of Josh Passley, Jake Vokins and Finlay Barnes who were named on the bench.

The visitors posed early threats with deliveries coming in from Lennon Peake and Ben Chapman down both flanks but several of those didn’t meet with a connection. Peake’s run from the left into the box presented the best chance and he might have gone for goal at the near post but played it across the box where it ran behind Ogunleye and Kwesi Appiah.

Tidy play from Ogunleye down the middle then robbed possession from Slough and he carried on towards goal but was intercepted before he could fire a shot away. 

Gene Kennedy attempted to recreate Saturday’s spectacular goal with a curling effort from the edge of the area but that shot was wide.

Slough had moments of possession but didn’t really threaten Will Buse and the better chances were all for the visitors as Peake and Kennedy continued to try their luck.

Appiah found himself in a great position only six yards out but couldn’t keep his headed effort on target just before the break.

The Fleet continued their attack early into the second-half and Ogunleye’s first effort after the break was forced out for a corner.

He did better with his next chance and was in plenty of space as he dived on to Peake’s delivery to head the ball past Leicester City loanee Stevie Bausor in the 51st minute.

The chances continued to come for the Fleet and Chapman was lively on that right hand side before being replaced by Josh Passley whose effort was narrowly wide of the mark.

While a one-goal lead was a slender one, Fleet didn’t look in much danger from Slough’s attacks until a controversial moment proved costly. Ogunleye was brought down and appeared to hold his shoulder but despite not receiving on-field treatment, the referee forced the striker to the sidelines. Slough made the most of a free drop ball to launch a long pass forward which made its way into the area where skipper Keenan Quansah – Ogunleye’s man to mark – shot home while the Fleet were down to 10 men.

Despite late a charge from the Fleet who tried to attack quickly in the minutes left, there was no way through and the points were shared.
