Sittingbourne hosted Tooting & Mitcham on Tuesday night and both teams played out an uninspiring draw with both sides lacking the killer instinct.

This included the late arrival of several players from both sides delaying the kick off by 5 minutes, due to problems, on the A2

The traffic problems prior to kick off caused the away side to name only 2 subs as 3 players did not make the Woodstock ground. As the game got under way, this didn’t seem to matter too much with the away side having the better moments.

Leon Lalor-Dell creating problems down the Sittingbourne right. His final ball was however lacking on several occasions. Tooting & Mitcham were to have the first genuine chance on 22 minutes, a ball around the corner from Saidou Khan found Adam Moriarty with a clear sight of goal but the midfielder was wasteful and shot over.

In a hustle and bustle half, where no players had time on the ball, Tooting were to have one moment of quality. Good combination play from Moriarty and Marshall down the right ended with Marshall clipping the ball in for Dan Summers to head straight at the keeper.

Sittingbourne didn’t threaten the away goal until 9 minutes into the second half.  Top scorer Hicham Akhazzan cut in from the left and whipped in a ball that Harry Smith headed on to the base of the left hand upright.

Tooting were dangerous on the counter attack with the pace of Lalor-Dell and when his cross was cleared to Moriarty on the edge of the area, his pass towards Marshall was just inches away from making a telling contributuion.

As the second half wore on, half chances fell for both sides with Miles Cornwell shooting over for the home side and Dan Summers having his shot smothered by the goalkeeper for the away side.

Going into the final minutes, Tooting should have stolen the points. Lalor-Dell racing on to a punt up field but he shot straight at the keeper when one on one. Sittingbourne failed to muster an opportunity and both teams would have to settle for a point
