Bromley started their second League Two campaign with a point from a trip to newly relegated Shrewsbury Town, battling out a scoreless draw at The New Meadow.

Andy Woodman’s Ravens went into the game lining up 5-3-2 with Michael Cheek and Marcis Dinanga as dual strikers and captain Byron Webster in the middle of three centre backs.
Bromley got off to a positive start with Kyle Cameron going close early on latching on to a Mitchell Pinnock long throw. Ben Thompson then had a goal ruled out for offside after a recycled corner fell to him in the six yard box.
From there The Shews woke up and started to create chances with Anthony Scully having a shot saved by Grant Smith and John Marquis putting a header wide.
The home side were clearly troubled by Bromley’s diret style, with Cheek having a penalty shout turned down when he was pulled back by Boyle as he raced on to a long ball over the top from Smith.
Corey Whitely drove over after good work by Pinnock down the right, before Shewsbury went close when Marquis charged down a Smith kick, but the Ravens keeper scrambled back to recover the ball safely.
Deji Elerewe headed over from Ashley Charles’ cross as Bromley pressed again, but play was then delayed for several minutes when the Linesman had to be replaced and a new fourth official found.
After the break in play Bromley went close when Pinnock crossed for Dinanga who headed wide at the far post.
In the seventeen minutes of first half injury time Pinnock was again the creator when he set up Marcis Ifill who saw his shot deflected wide.
Late on, the home side did have a strong spell of pressure, but The Ravens defence held out, although Elerewe was very lucky only to be shown a yellow card when he caught Marquis in the face with a stray arm as they both chased after a long pass down the left.
The second half saw Whitely fire over early on for Bromley, but for long spells the play was scrappy with neither side really getting hold of things.
Sam Clucas was lucky not to receive a second yellow card for a late foul on Charles, but that probably levelled up the referee’s leniency towards Elerewe in the first period.
Both teams had brief spells of pressure, but rarely troubled the keepers, Dinanga having a tame shot saved by Savin on the turn.
Deep into stoppage time Elerewe headed a Pinnock corner wide, but in truth a draw was a fair result from a pretty dour opening day game, with both sides happy to keep a clean sheet and get a point on the board.
The Ravens now prepare for their home game with Barnet next Saturday.
