Going into the weekend leading the overall standings, Shakey will be looking to keep up his recent momentum and take both wins at his home circuit.

Shakey leads the overall standings by 35 points as he bids to become the first rider to secure one of the six positions in the end of season Showdown over the next rounds. The PBM Kawasaki rider has won the last four consecutive races and is determined to maintain his momentum in front of a huge home crowd.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, he said: “Going Into any race weekend I never really think about any other rider but myself until race day.

“People ask all the time, who is going to be your main competition, maybe after warm up I will take a look at the sheets and think ‘such and such has put together a bit of a run there so might be strong this weekend or whatever’, but me focusing on anyone else over a weekend isn’t going to improve my situation so I tend to concentrate on me and being fast and consistent.

“We then get into the race on a Sunday and it’s up to me then, to do my best and race whatever package I have underneath me to the best of my ability – you do your best and then you see how you end up at the end of the day.Shane Byrne - Snetterton 1 - PSP Images

“It would be absolutely fantastic to come to Brands Hatch and do exactly the same as we have at Snetterton and Knockhill or the rest of the season even – but if it works out like that is a completely different matter! There are going to be a lot of guys that are going to improve for sure as the season goes on and there is some strong competition out there from some great riders and the pace is really fast this year.

“I will be working really hard from the start of the weekend to do the best job I can and if that means a double win then that is great, if it means two podiums then that’s great too – as long as I am scoring those podium points for the end of the year I will be happy.”
