Sevenoaks Town vs AFC Croydon Athletic – Preview

Football under the floodlights takes place at Greatness Park when Sevenoaks Town host AFC Croydon Athletic in the Isthmian League South East Division.

Both teams have fifteen points from eleven games with just a one goal, goal difference putting the visitors in eleventh place above the Oaks who are twelfth.

On Saturday, Sevenoaks hosted Broadbridge Heath and won three-two. Sam Hands opened the scoring for the home team but Nathan Jeche converted a penalty midway through the first half and the teams went in level at the break. Jeche scored his second five minutes after the restart before Zachary Young levelled from the spot. A third penalty decided the match as Jeche completed his hat-trick.

Meanwhile, Manager-less Croydon stumbled to a one-nil defeat at Deal Town. The visitors had Sam Blackman sent off six minutes before half time but held out until five minutes remained when Rory Smith, who also plays cricket for Sandwich Town, scored the winner.

When the Rams visited Sevenoaks last season, they left Kent with a two-nil victory, courtesy of a first half brace by Kadell Daniel. They completed the double with a four-one win at home. Louie Theophanous and Jerome Binnom-Williams gave them a two goal half time lead. Brandon Pierrick scored a third before Warren Mfula pulled one back in the sixth minute of stoppage time. That wasn’t the end of the scoring as Josh Williams added a fourth for Croydon two minutes later.

They have already met twice this season in Croydon. In the league in August, David Bremang and Greg Cundle put the hosts two up and Tamas Amgbaduba’s goal for the Oaks was a consolation. Eleven days later, the honours again went to Croydon with a three-two win in the FA Cup.

As the Oaks haven’t beaten Croydon since January 2025, they will be keen to put that right with a midweek victory to push them into the play-off zone.
