Sevenoaks Town v Lordswood preview

Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division leaders Sevenoaks Town entertain Lordswood on Tuesday night hoping to extend their lead.

Currently, they are two points clear of Crowborough Athletic, Beckenham Town and Croydon and will be looking to utilise their game in hand.

However, Lordswood will have their own ideas and are only a further five points behind with their own aims of climbing higher up the league.

At their Bourne Stadium, Sevenoaks have been 100% with seven wins out of seven in the league, scoring nineteen goals and conceding just four. Erith Town showed that they are not invincible, though, when they claimed a 3-2 win there in the SCEFL Challenge Cup.

Away from home, Lordswood are hard to beat and their 3-1 defeat at Cray Valley Paper Mills was only their second in the league this season and they’ve had some excellent cup results on the road too.

They are a much improved team having finished in 16th place out of 20 last season and will be looking to avoid the devastation they suffered in the first five minutes of last season’s corresponding fixture.

Byron Walker opened the scoring after one minute’s play and Harrison Carnegie made it two three minutes later. Lordswood had hardly had time to draw breath before Walker scored again and after that it was just a matter of damage limitation.

Billy Bennett made it four one minute shy of the hour mark and that turned out to be the end of the scoring for the afternoon.

Although the weather forecast suggests that it will be cold with wintry showers, Sevenoaks 3g pitch will ensure that unless there are extreme weather conditions, the game will go ahead.
