Sevenoaks Town 2-1 Faversham Town
Sevenoaks Town 2-1 Faversham Town

Sevenoaks Town carried on with their push for the Play offs with a hard earned victory over bottom of the table Faversham Town.

The visitors will be gutted as they led until the 83rd minute and then five minutes later conceded another to leave them rooted to the bottom.

The game started with both sides on the attack and then Faversham in the 9th minute took the lead when a corner into the area saw a couple of headers goalbound and then from 3 yards Shola Ayoola headed in.

This shocked Sevenoaks who were supposed to be celebrating Harry Hudson’s first year in charge.

Both sides continued to attack without really causing any problems and it took until the 37th minute for Sevenoaks to have their first shot when Soloman Baugh saw his 20 yard shot go just over the bar.

In the 43rd minute Baugh received the ball in the area and his acrobatic effort went just over the bar.

Half time arrived and Sammy Moore would have been the happier of the two managers as his side had played well above their league position while Hudson would have been relieved they were still in the game.

The second half saw Faversham rely on breakaways while Sevenoaks worked hard to get back into the game but lacked that bit of quality and looked like it would not be their day.

In the 71st minute William Hoare who had only been on for 5 minutes saw his 20 yard effort go over the bar.

Faversham were still dangerous on the break and looked for the second goal which would have killed the game off, but in the space of 5 minutes they were looking at defeat as in the 83rd Josh Ogunseye on the right received the ball ran forward and went inside and his 20 yard shot beat Bailey Vose into the bottom right corner, then in the 85th minute David Kawa on the left wing got to the by-line and his low cross found Freddie Parker who from 5 yards slotted the ball in.

Faversham were now searching for an equaliser and in the 90th minute Tyler McCarthy came to Sevenoaks’ rescue when he saved Ronald Sithole’s 20 yard shot with his legs.

There were 6 minutes extra added but for all their valiant efforts Faversham could not get the equaliser.
