Sevenoaks Town 0-3 Sheppey United
Sevenoaks Town 0-3 Sheppey United

Sevenoaks Town and Sheppey United were on the fringes of the Play off places and Sheppey came out on top eventually while Sevenoaks would rue their chances in the first half.

The first 45 minutes saw both sides cancel each other out with Sevenoaks probably the better side but the second half saw Sheppey up the ante & they took their chances & moved up to 7th in the table.

The first half started with Sevenoaks on the front foot while Sheppey took a bit of time to get going. In the 10th minute Oaks had their first chance when Emmanuel Mensah on the edge of the area saw his shot go past the post then 4 minutes later David Kawa on the left beat the defender & from an acute angle saw his cross/shot come back off the crossbar.

In the 18th minute Sheppey had their first half chance when prolific striker Warren Mfula saw his 30 yard effort go past the post.

A minute later Kieron Cadogan found himself in the area alone but he slipped & his shot went past the post. Sevenoaks were now on top without causing too many problems while Sheppey just made sure they stayed in the game with some good defending.

In the 30th minute Cadogan received the ball in the area & was just about to shoot when tackled & cleared. Two minutes later Frankie Del Morgan latched on to a clearance & from 25 yards saw his shot go just wide.

In the 33rd minute Mensah saw his 20 yard effort deflected for a corner. In the 35th minute Josh Wisson tried his luck with a free kick 22 yards out but it went over the bar, four minutes later former Sevenoaks player Eddie Allsopp 12 yards out saw his shot deflected for a corner.

The last chance of the half came in the 43rd minute when Fumnaya Shomotum ran from halfway into the area & his shot was deflected away for a corner.

Half time arrived & Sevenoaks could feel unlucky not to be leading while Sheppey would be glad they were still in the game, the general concensus was both sides had cancelled themselves out.

The second half started with Sevenoaks still the better side as in the 52nd minute Kawa 20 yards out saw his shot saved by Aiden Prall, a minute later Shomotun received the ball just inside the area & his shot went over the bar.

Sheppey started to get into the game & in the 56th minute Danny Leonard saw his shot deflected & come back off the crossbar to Mfula 6 yards out but his shot was blocked & deflected for a corner.

In the 62nd minute Sheppey took the lead when Josh Wisson received the ball 25 yards out & his shot beat Tyler McCarthy.

Sheppey were now enjoying a lot more possession & in the 80th minute they doubled their lead when a long ball forward saw Antone Douglas misjudge the bounce & his header back to McCarthy was intercepted by Mfula who once in the area passed squarely for Leonard to shoot home from 8 yards.

Eight minutes later Substitute Jake Embury was put in & from 5 yards McCarthy saved it but in the 5th minute of added on time it became three when the ball was put into the area from the left & Embury beat Bradley Schafer to it & shot home from 3 yards.
