Fisher became the first side through to the last eight of the SCEFL Challenge Cup with a 4-1 Monday night win at SE Dons.
The Fish, who at the weekend won through into the last thirty-two of the FA Vase, eased past the Dons in truth with some ease with two goals in each half – Tom Jones and Lorenzo Duncan in the first period followed by strikes from Festos Kamara and sub Aadae Paponette in the second.
Hani Hechachena had levelled at 1-1 for the Dons, but in truth the “home” side were well beaten. After a tight opening fifteen minutes, Fisher took the lead as Jones struck an exquisite lob from distance that left Dons keeper George Kamurasi stranded and flat footed.
The lead however only lasted a matter of minutes as Hechachange drilled home after the Fisher defence couldnt cope with a ball over the top.
The home side had a chance to take the lead when a huge Kamuasi clearance caused chaos in the Fish defence but Siao Blackwood couldnt get his shot away.
It was a missed chance that the Dons were to rue as just before the break Duncan scored a glorious second from an acute angle after racing onto a ball from Alex Kozak.
The lead was extended just after the break as Shamar Lawson did brilliantly down the left to put Kozak in behind the defence and his square ball was swept home by Kamara.
The Dons needed a comeback and rallied well – Ryan Gondoh was brilliantly denied by keeper Isaac Oguseri whilst Reece Barrett could only head straight at the keeper after being found by Jake Rose.
Yet again the home side were to rue the chances as the win was rubber stamped in stoppage time as Duncan fed Paponette who did the rest.
The Dons night was then complete when Ben Wilson was showed a straight red card, but by then the damage had been more than done and the Fish were into the Quarter Finals.
