Monday night football returns to the Masher Brothers Community Stadium when SC Thamesmead host AFC Greenwich Borough in the Southern Counties East Football League Division one.

Whilst the hosts are just one point above the bottom three, the newly formed Greenwich team are only three points behind league leaders SE Dons with two games in hand. They also have a far superior goal difference.
Having had no game on Saturday, Thamesmead’s last game was a week earlier when an early goal by Henry Phillips was sufficient to claim all three points against Tooting Bec. However, Owen Jeavons was dismissed late on, and will be suspended against Greenwich Borough.
There was no rest day for Borough on Saturday. They hosted Halls AFC and were made to work very hard for their victory. Experienced striker Stefan Payne put the home team ahead in just the fourth minute but wide man Muraino Banjoko levelled just before half time. It looked as though the two teams were heading for a point apiece until Payne scored again with seven minutes left on the clock.
When the two teams met at the RTL Group Stadium at the start of September, Greenwich were forced to work hard for their three points. Jack Church put them ahead in the ninth minute, however, Abdou Jobe levelled from the spot a minute before half time. Sixteen minutes remained when Oghosa Williams scored what turned out to be the winner for the hosts.
Local derbies can throw up unusual results and with both teams being very keen to pick up all three points, a competitive encounter may be on the cards.
