Salford City 2-1 Bromley
Salford City 2-1 Bromley

Bromley came away from their trip to Moor Lane with nothing despite leading with only three minutes left against promotion chasing Salford City.

Lining up 4-5-1 The Ravens were on the back foot for the majority of the first half, but their back four held strong with David Gregory dealing with anything that got through.

Ibou Touray hit the bar with a free kick early on and Carl Piergianni had two headers saved, but that was the sum total of it. Bromley did occasionally look dangerous on the break, but they never really had a clear chance.

It wasn’t until the 40th minute that Bromley had their first shot when Frankie Raymond put a free kick wide.

The second half saw The Ravens change shape to 5-3-2 and they started brightly, but as the half went on they were pinned back again.

After a long spell of pressure Gregory saved another Pierregiani header, but then Bromley grabbed a chance to take an unlikely lead. Sam Wood crossed for Omar Bugeil who span his marker in the box and was pulled back by Scott Wiseman for a clear penalty.

Top scorer JJ Hopper stuck the spot kick away to put The Ravens in front on 84mins to the delight of the 120 travelling fans. From there though Salford dominated play and they were level only 3 mins later when Lois Maynard headed a deep cross home past a static defence.

Then deep into injury time after more pressure Gregory tipped over a Devonte Redmond strike for a corner and from the set piece Nathan Pond headed the winner high into the net for 2-1.

Bromley has one last corner, but it was cleared to safety and the home side celebrated their vital three points which keeps them second.
It was tough on Neil Smith’s side, but they must quickly pick themselves up for the home game with Orient on Tuesday night.
