Rudd ready to attack

The Britcar Endurance Championship gets under the way this weekend at Rockingham Motor speedway, and Simon Rudd is ready to get back racing.

Rudd is no stranger to the series having raced in 2017 with teammate Tom Barley, and the duo are both back for 2018 and targeting the title.

Speaking about being back on the grid, Simon said: I am really happy to get a deal in place with the team. It has been a hard winter with the events of the last round, but Tony has been mega in helping get a deal in place. It is great to get back out there.

“We looked at multiple options for 2018 but two things I did not want to change was the team and my team-mate. Tom and I are great mates off track and I think that is crucial to our success. We are both competitive, but really push each other in a good way.”

Last season was the duo’s debut in the series and they will be looking to us that experience when the season gets underway this weekend.

He added: “It was a great season for us. The last round didn’t go to plan which, in my opinion, cost us the championship. It was my first year in a GT car, racing with a team-mate and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“We won the first four races until the time penalties caught us up. Bearing in mind it was our first year in GT, I think we did pretty well!”

Simon is now the longest serving driver with Rochester based Team Hard, and that relationship is really benefitting Simon’s racing.

“It is something that I am proud of. I have been there since the team was reborn and have raced in three championships with them. They are only down the road so they probably see more of me then they would like!!”

Finally we asked whether Simon is setting any targets for the coming Britcar Endurance Championship season.

He said: “To win the championship. That is the focus and I think we will be there or there about.”
