Robinson commits future to Kent

Kent Cricket have announced that wicketkeeper-batsman Ollie Robinson has signed a contract extension with the Club until the end of the 2021 season.

The Kent Cricket Academy graduate has cemented his place in the first team this year with 406 Specsavers County Championship runs at an average of 36.91 in six Division One matches so far this season, with 26 catches behind the stumps.

Sidcup-born Robinson scored a career-best 143 runs at Edgbaston against Warwickshire in April, as well as 103 versus Yorkshire at The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence in May.

The right-hander also recorded 49 runs in a One-Day friendly against Pakistan at The County Ground, Beckenham in April.

On extending his stay at Kent, Robinson said: “To represent your home county is a real honour and I’m thrilled to commit to two further years here.

“I’m pleased with the start I’ve made in the first team but I’m always looking to improve and work on my game.

“I know that I’m at a county where I can keep developing and I’m looking forward to future challenges alongside this group of players.”

Kent Cricket’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “I am really pleased Ollie has decided to make a commitment to Kent as we look to develop a side which can compete with the best.

“He has done remarkably well since graduating from our Academy in 2017 and  has become a core member of our first team this season.”
