Ray aiming to be among the podium fight

Bradley Ray and his McAMS Yamaha team are aiming to be fighting for victory as the British Superbike Championship returns this weekend.

Ray heads to Scotland for the third round of the season, as Knockhill is next up, and it is a circuit that he has done well at in the past.

The compact 1.2-mile circuit has long been a happy hunting ground for both the rider and the Yamaha R1, most recently when the 29-year-old swept to a double victory there last year – making a final addition to an impressive run of eight wins on the bounce.

With the shorter, technical layout helping to level the playing field after what has been a trying start to the season, the championship hopeful enters the weekend with his sights firmly set on the podium. Confidence in the team’s ability to deliver at one of the calendar’s most distinctive circuits is high.

Ray currently sits fourth in the standings heading into round three, his best results to date being three third-place finishes at Oulton Park earlier in the year. Back on familiar and favourable ground, the team are determined to use the weekend as a launchpad – targeting a charge into the top three of the championship table.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Ray said: “I’m ready to get going at Knockhill again this weekend, it’s been a strong circuit for me in the past and the belief is there that we have what it takes to challenge for wins and podiums.

“My feeling with the Yamaha R1 continues to improve as we get further into the year, and the team have been working hard to refine the package as much as possible and give me an improved feeling across the board.

“We’re not a million miles away from where we need to be, so we’ll head into the weekend with the aim of extracting more from the bike and determined as ever to bring home a solid set of results.”
