As Wimbledon kicked off today, there was one name missing from those taking to the courts at the All England Tennis Club and that was Emma Raducanu.

Raducanu who has been managing an injury had been a doubt for the show piece of the grass court season, following her excellent run at Queens Club a few weeks before.
Announcing that she has been advised to sit out of the tournament, she said: “I’ve done everything possible to try to get to the start line but after a final scan tonight the niggle I’ve been managing has developed into a stress fracture,” Raducanu said.
“I’ve been medically advised to stop pushing through.”
The Bromley player was due to start her campaign today on Court One today against Crotia’s Antonia Ruzic, but the 30th seed will now focus on recovery from the stress fracture.
