Quinn joins Kent on permanent deal

Kent Cricket have announced that Matt Quinn will be re-joining the county, initially on loan for the rest of this season across all formats, and then permanently on a three-year contract from the beginning of the 2022 season.

The 28-year-old has played four matches on loan for Kent in the LV= Insurance County Championship already this season, taking 12 wickets at an average of 19.33.

His current Kent-best figures of 4-54 came in the first innings against Sussex at Hove in May.

Quinn now has 135 wickets at 29.23 in first-class cricket and 70 wickets at 26.84 in T20s during a playing career that began for his native Auckland in 2012. As the right-armer holds a British Passport, he will be registered as a domestic player for Kent.

On joining Kent permanently, Quinn said: “I’m excited to join Kent permanently after a really enjoyable loan spell for me over the past couple of months.

“Everyone at the Club, including the players, staff and Members, made me feel so welcome. I can’t wait to be a Kent player once more, and to contribute towards future success for this county.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “We’re delighted that Matt has chosen to join us on a long-term basis.

“He has already shown his ability in a Kent shirt this season and he fitted in really well in the dressing room during his loan spell. He brings something different to our seam attack as we continually look to improve the strength and depth of our squad.”
