Floodlight football takes place in Gravesend when Punjab United host Stansfeld in a Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division match this evening.

At present, Punjab are in sixth place in the league table, just three points behind Bearsted who hold the final play off spot at present, but with two games in hand. Stansfeld have found things tougher, and sadly for them, have been relegated.
On Sunday, Chipie Sian’s Punjab team were beaten in the Go Cardless Kent Senior Trophy cup final by league champions, Whitstable Town. They fell behind to a Bradley Schafer goal in the eleventh minute but were still right in it until Dean Grant added a second with eleven minutes remaining.
One day earlier, Stansfeld visited Kennington and claimed a point in a two all draw. Ryan Philpott puth the hosts ahead in the fifteenth minute but Jack Calvert levelled four minutes after the break. Fin Dent put Kennington back ahead four minutes after the break, however, Nana Kufour equalised with nine minutes left on the clock and the spoils were shared.
When Stansfeld hosted Punjab back in August, there was no indication of how the season would pan out. Campbell and Danny Parish gave the visitors a two goal lead but Calvert pulled one back in first half stoppage time.
Thee goals in nine minutes just after the hour mark put Stansfeld in command with Rob Hughes notching a brace either side of an Adam Wallis goal. Chris Alhassan rounded it off for the Eltham based club with the team’s fifth goal in time added on.
Having suffered the cup heartbreak, Sian will want to ensure that his team settles back down to qualify for the play-offs. Stansfeld manager, Billy Shinners, will have other ideas, though, and will be looking for his side to complete the double, and to finish the season on a high.
