Sittingbourne head to Broadbridge Heath this weekend looking to continue their unbeaten run under Reece Prestedge and cement their place in the Play Off places of the Southeast division.

The Brickies travel fifth in the table – six points ahead of sixth placed Jersey Bulls (who held them to a 1-1 draw last weekend at the Staxson Stadium) but with just four points separating them from second placed AFC Croydon Athletic who they face in a couple of weeks’ time!
Speaking to KSN ahead of the trip into Sussex, Prestedge told us of his part frustration at “only” getting a point last time out!
“The frustrations were there on Saturday because we felt that if we could have got a little bit more into it throughout as we did in the first fifteen to twenty minutes when I thought we were excellent, and kept those levels… not saying that the boys dropped or anything, but I guess it was one of those games!”
“At the same time Jersey came with a game plan, and they did well in what they were doing, and you can see why they are where they are in the League!”
“Most games – home or away in this League – are tough to be fair, there simply isn’t an easy game in this League!”
“Broadbridge had a good result last Saturday (they won 6-0 at bottom club East Grinstead Town) so they will be full of energy and belief for this weekend. We won’t be looking beyond Saturday – I know everyone says it, but we really do just take each game as it comes but we are going game by game to hopefully keep getting the results that we want.”
Prestedge is yet to taste defeat since returning to the Brickies as boss – nine wins and two draws from the eleven games played – and paid tribute to his players.
“With the group of boys (that we have), we know that we have created a great environment! Coming in when we did, there was a good squad there already and you have to have the belief that you are going to go and win games, so the start, and the run that we are on is great! But it’s only great if we can finish it off!”
“Everyone has now nearly played the same number of games as everyone else and it’s set up thing nicely as usually does happen going into this really tough period of January and February so most people now know where they are at and what they need to push on to the business end of the season. You also can’t take your foot off as you know that there is always someone chasing your tail.”
“I’m very happy with the squad at the moment – our squad depth is decent, and everyone is back fit and we have really good competition for places right now.”
“It gives me nice selection problems as we don’t have eleven starters, we have sixteen starters so as much as people say that no-one gets dropped here, it is just a rotation on how we see it on the day and the boys have bought into that and know exactly what needs to be done!”
