Sittingbourne will be hoping to return to Isthmian League action this weekend when Crowborough Athletic visit the Staxson Stadium on Saturday with boss Reece Prestedge keen for his side to get a game.

Last weekend saw the weather stop the Brickies try to win their tenth game in boss Reece Prestedge’s twelve games in charge and as he prepares for the Crows visit to Swale this weekend, he has been talking to KSN.
“It does seem a long time since we drew with Jersey at the Staxson,” Prestedge admitted. “I think we are just hungry to get back playing again this weekend and getting back to playing games. It really has been stop/start since Christmas over the last three or four weeks so it will be nice to get a game especially at home at the Staxson.”
“It is frustrating when you prepare all week for a game and then it’s called off as it frustrating that you cannot carry on the momentum with games as it is; having the stop start in between when you are going Saturday to Saturday as we are at moment, when a game gets called off you wait two weeks for a game. It is frustrating but at the same time we do know that its part and parcel of the game.”
“I know people look at other results especially when we don’t play, but I have to be honest that we are not focusing on other teams, we just have to make sure that we are doing what we are doing as there is no point looking at others – we will have games to catch up with now so we have to look at what we are doing when the games come. We have to make sure that when they do we get the points.”
The Sussex side provided the opposition when Prestedge tool over at the Brickies – a night that the manager remembers well; “It was our first Tuesday night with the team which we went into with no training, and we had to get straight in. I think we have come a long way since that first game, and I expect us to be a bit more structurally prepared for the game this time around and as a home game we will be looking for a three-pointer.”
“I was asked this week if I was surprised how quickly things have come together and in truth I am not overly because I think you have to get it right in bringing in players who will click straight away, and some of those we have brought in have played with others before and they know each other – obviously that helps.
“We have to make sure that everyone enjoying around the Club – it’s the main thing that everyone is happy where they are and that’s the case at the moment. If there is anyone unhappy of course that could disrupt things but at the moment everyone is happy to fight for their shirt and keen on playing games.”
“We are always keeping an eye on improving things, but we aren’t actively looking for players at the moment but we will of course keep our options open and see what comes available, but the squad depth is looking good, and touch wood, we are looking to be quite strong.”
