Sittingbourne will be looking to build on their incredible win in midweek as they look to host Sevenoaks Town this weekend in what could be the Staxson Stadium’s first Isthmian League action since January 10th with manager Reece Prestedge keen to keep winning.

Reece Prestedge’s side recorded their biggest win of the season when they won seven-one at Broadbridge Heath on Tuesday night to climb back to fourth in the Isthmian League South East table ahead of the weekend.
“Finally, we are back at home this weekend,” Prestedge admitted to KSN this week adding, “And to say that we are all looking forward to it would be an understatement!”
“Not playing for a month was bad enough let alone not playing here in front our fantastic supporters. Saturday will hopefully just be so good to be back and getting some games on at home as it does feel like it has been way too long!”
Seven days ago, the Brickies were held to a 3-3 draw at near neighbours Faversham Town after leading 3-0.
“Looking back on the last week as we returned to playing, Faversham was very frustrating in the sense of the way that it ended!” confessed the Sittingbourne boss.
“That said, there won’t be many teams that go to Faversham and manage to go three-nil up. There were parts of that game you could put down to rustiness or not playing for four weeks and we easily could have come away with the three points.”
“But then on Tuesday at Broadbridge, we saw an incredible reaction to the weekend, especially in the second half. Saturday was our first game back played on a lovely 3G pitch whilst Tuesday was a very heavy sloped pitch which was completely different and required a different style and we had to manage it the best way we could and go back to basics.”
“When you are playing week in, week out, it really is a momentum thing which you don’t want to lose when you don’t have the games.”
“I am not using it as an excuse, but when you don’t have the games, you almost forget the good things.”
“We had to have a chat at half time with the score at 1-1 and try to galvanise things to do and I think we went out and executed things perfectly. Joe’s (Boachie) equaliser at the end of the first half didn’t change the talk at the break as points were still there to be made and when you go in at 1-1 with the last kick of the half, momentum went our way a bit more than it did.”
“Broadbridge was probably looking at it thinking that they had done enough to be ahead at the break, but it was always going to be a game of two halves if only because of the pitch and the wind, and we were delighted to go in 1-1 at the break!”
Prestedge is still to taste defeat as Sittingbourne boss and Tuesday’s win was the tenth in thirteen games and a return of thirty-three points from a possible thirty-nine!
“The win was another great feeling for us in this great run that we are enjoying at the moment, but as I said to the boys, yes it was a great win but it is only a great win if we back it up…”
“And we know that if we want to stay at the top end of the table and fighting for promotion, we have to back results up every week because as much as you can celebrate your wins you can only do it for a small period because we have to then focus on the next game with the same energy to win again!”
Sevenoaks come to Swale on Saturday looking to complete the League double over the Brickies after winning 1-0 at Greatness Park on Bonfire night.
“We know that Sevenoaks will be tough,” Prestedge told us. “Our game plan won’t change as three points is what we will be looking for again against a side who have picked up a lot recently.”
“They have attacking threats and they all seem to have gelled up top, and we know that we are in for another tough battle this weekend!”
