Pope signs new deal

Nick Pope has signed a 3-year deal which will keep the highly rated young keeper at The Valley until the summer of 2016.Nick Pope2

The Newmarket born 21-year-old made his league debut for the club in the final game of last season, when he came on to replace the injured David Button against Bristol City.

Chris Powell will be hoping to have talismanic striker, Yann Kermorgant, available for the trip to Burnley on Saturday. Kermorgant was carrying a knock going into the Watford game and took further knocks to his damaged ankle during the game.

Kermorgant missed the Millwall match and it is doubtful whether he will be 100% fit for the trip to Turf Moor. Such is Kermorgant’s influence though, that Powell may be prepared to take a risk with the Frenchman.

Kermorgant is Powell’s main striker and if he was to be out for any length of time, Powell may be tempted to enter the loan market.

Jonathan Obika is a player the manager would dearly like to bring back to The Valley. The Tottenham striker had a successful loan spell with the Addicks last season, scoring three goals in ten appearances.

Whether a deal is possible remains to be seen.
