Podmore commits future to Kent

Kent Cricket have announced that pace bowler Harry Podmore has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2021 season.

The 24-year-old, who joined Kent from Middlesex in April,  impressed in his first season with us, taking 43 wickets at an average of 23.30 in Kent’s successful Specsavers County Championship promotion campaign.

Podmore also recorded career-best bowling figures of 6-64 against his former side at The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence and also scored the winning boundary against Worcestershire to take Kent to their first One Day Cup final appearance at Lord’s for 10 years.

Speaking about his new deal, Podmore said: “It’s been a dream first season for me at Kent, I’ve felt at home right from the word go.

“Everyone was very welcoming to me and I feel part of a special group here at The Spitfire Ground. This is just the beginning and we can build upon Kent Cricket’s rich history with this talented group of players that are hungry for success.”

Director of Cricket Paul Downton is thrilled to see Podmore commit himself to the club and said: “Harry has fitted into the squad brilliantly both on and off the pitch.

“His capabilities with both bat and ball are there for all to see, so we’re delighted that he’s signed an extension.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing him develop even further over the coming years – there are exciting times ahead for this group.”
