Jose Riga thinks that the answer to the Addicks’ goal drought lies within the club but it was surprising to hear that Joe Pigott had been recalled from his loan spell at Gillingham.Joe Pigott2

Pigott is available for the trip to Forest on Tuesday. Riga was probably referring to the lack of service to his front men when he mentioned the answer to his striking problems lay at The Valley.

In another boost for the Addicks, Connor Wickham has been recalled from his loan spell at Elland Road by Sunderland. Charlton travel to Leeds next Tuesday.

The Yorkshire club received another blow on Monday morning when the Football League vetoed Massimo Cellino’s proposed takeover of the club. Cellino failed to meet the fit and proper person criteria.

Alan Curbishley co-hosted talkSPORT’s breakfast show with Alan Brazil on Monday morning. Normal Monday co-presenter, Neil Warnock, was alleged to have been in discussions with Nottinghsm Forest about taking over as manager.

Incumbent Forest boss, Billy Davies, did not report for work, nor did any of his coaching staff and rumours are circulating in the city that Davies has been sacked.

Davies has been under pressure for some time and Forest’s heavy defeat at bitter rivals Derby on Saturday, was probably the final straw for the Forest board.

The East Midlanders slipped out of the play-off places as a result of that defeat, while Derby look near certainties to be involved in the end of season lottery.

The Addicks face both Forest and Derby this week, with a visit to the City Ground taking place on Tuesday.

Warnock is an instant impact manager who can turn things round quickly. If he is appointed manager and has no existing senior staff member to turn to for advice, Charlton could be playing Forest at a good time.
