Phoenix Sports v Burgess Hill Town preview

On Saturday, Phoenix Sports entertain Burgess Hill Town in an Isthmian League South East Division match.

It has been a tough first half of the season for Phoenix who are currently at the foot of the table with just one league win so far this season. However, a crumb of comfort for them is that their only victory was away to their upcoming opponents. Back on August Bank holiday Monday they claimed a two-nil success through second half goals by George Whitelock and Jeff Duah-Kessie.

Since then, there has been a change of management at the Mayplace Ground with Paul Byron departing to be replaced by Steve O’Boyle.

Away from home, Burgess Hill have won three, drawn two and lost three. They are eight points away from the play-off zone in ninth place. Their last game was a five-one win at Hythe Town. They conceded the first goal but scored three before half time and ran out comfortable winners.

Hythe was where Phoenix claimed their last point at the start of the month. They fell behind in the first half but kept battling and substitute Emmanuel Shoderu levelled with one minute remaining.

That is the attitude that O’Boyle will demand if the Sports are to climb up the table to safety.
