Adrian Pennock wants more from Gillingham after their 4-0 loss at home to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

There was only really one side in the game from as early as the fourth minute as The Gills fell behind to an easy goal for the visitors and shortly after half time they found themselves 4-0 down against a rampant Bolton side.

Having seen his side commit errors that led to their own downfall, Pennock admittsed costly mistakes were costing his side dear at the moment:

“We conceded some very poor goals. I can’t remember [Stuart] Nelson making any saves apart from picking the ball out of his net.”

“In open play, I thought we did okay defensively but from set plays we were very poor.”

“They [set plays] have been an Achilles heel since I’ve been here. They (Bolton) have seven or eight six-foot-plus players and we haven’t.”

“It’s one of those games where you just have to put your hands up and say they were better than us.

“All over the pitch I thought they were very good, a big strong team, but we didn’t throw in the towel.”

Pennock will now need to pick his side back up for their visit to Rochdale on Saturday, but with the comfort of sitting seven points above the League One relegation zone.
