Ramsgate boss Ady Pennock this weekend takes his new side back to a place he knows very well indeed after himself starting his own managerial career at Welling United. 

The Rams travel to Park View Road on Saturday on the back of two wins and two defeats to start the Pennock era at Southwood with one of those wins coming last weekend. 

“We had a great result and a pleasing performance last weekend,” Pennock said reflecting on the Rams 4-0 drubbing of St Albans City at Southwood.

The manager continued, “I thought the performance was top drawer and from start to finish throughout – we scored four good goals, we could have had more. St Albans are a very good side and to get a result like that is terrific!” 

“I am really enjoying it down here, I am loving it! The Chairman and everyone connected with the Football Club have been excellent with us since we arrived and the supporters have been great – I am really enjoying it, but what’s most important is that the players have bought into what we want to do – we want to do things.” 

Ramsgate, after their trip to face high-flying Welling United side on Saturday, the Rams welcome new promoted AFC Whyteleafe to Southwood, and Pennock told us,”Two very tough games! Ryan (Maxwell) builds very good sides and it looks like he has again and we know that they will be a tough competitive side; they’ve had a really good start to that season already so we are under no illusions and if we don’t turn up, we will get beaten.”

“We will have to roll up our sleeves and carry on from where we left off last Saturday!” 

“We’ve been playing well since the start of the season – we haven’t got as many points as we would like, but that’s not through a lack of effort, I thinks it’s just down to bad decisions or lack of putting the ball in the back of the net.”

“Form wise, we have been really good – I have been really pleased – it’s still very early in the season.” 

“We know Saturday will be very, very tough, but it will be good to see Ryan and everyone at the Club – I have some history with Welling don’t I and I love going back to the place; I had a really good time there – it will be tough for us and we have to turn up on the day!” 

“People have to remember that we are a new side and still in transition! Some will have to be patient as they want to win every single game, it’s impossible to do!”

“It is a transitional period for the Club, but we are going in the right direction; I am really enjoying things and that’s down to the players as well by really buying into what we are doing.”

“And when you get results like we did on Saturday, it really helps! We’ve got the supporters right behind as well. I think it’s an exciting period too and I am really enjoying it!”
