Kevin Parrish has paid tribute to the spirit in the Invicta Dynamos camp after a weekend of highs and lows.Invicta Dynamos v W2

The Dynamos started the weekend with a great 5-2 win at Bracknell Hornets having lost netminder Andy Moffat to a knee injury deep into the second period with defenceman Jack Tarczycki having to go between the posts for the final period.

They followed that up with a narrow 5-4 loss to one of the league’s better side Wighlink Raiders at Gillingham on Sunday night.

Despite having seen his side lose the Wightlink game, Parrish, the Dynamos Head Coach, was full of praise for his side after overcoming adversity to come away with two points from the weekend:

“It was a tough weekend and we went to Bracknell with just thirteen guys because of injuries and sickness. There was no real atmosphere as their first team take preference and their second team doesn’t have that many fans.”

“At 5-1 up in the second period, Moffs caught that one right on his knee. Without a back up it was a case of seeing who wanted to go in the net and it was a show of hands.”

“Jack went in and faced twelve shots in twenty three minutes and only let the one in. That whole performance showed the heart and passion we have and they threw their bodies on the line for the win.”

“I think the result from Sunday reflected all the hard work we put in on Saturday. There were tired bodies out there and we were missing the likes of Moffs.”

“Davey (Jackson) stepped up from the Mustangs and did a great job for us. We’d got to the rink with Ty Miller missing and Justin Noble shouldn’t have been playing as he has got a bad wrist.”

“What with Aaron Strawson having probably cracked a bone in his foot, it was a great performance from our guys.”Invicta Dynamos v W

Despite seeing his side lose 5-4 to Wightlink, Parrish was happy with the spirit his side had shown after producing a fightback to take it right to the end of the game:

“I liked that as we could have rolled over and died. They are not sitting where they are in the league for no reason. They set up a system that is hard to break down and maybe if we had taken a few chances earlier on, maybe it could have been a different story.”

“We showed the spirit and the fight, but I think the Bracknell game just took it out of our legs.”

The Dynamos complete their league season with games away to Cardiff NIHL Devils on Saturday night and at home to Solent & Gosport on Sunday evening. Face off at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham is 5:15pm and more information can be found at www.invictadynamos.co.uk
