Parish makes Sittingbourne move

Striker Danny Parish has joined Sittingbourne after his release from Ashford United as the Brickies boss has finally got his man.

Speaking to the Club’s official website, manager Ryan Maxwell was a frustrated figure as his side have not played in ten days because of the weather after regaining their form after a tough Christmas.

The Gaffer admitted, “We have had our last two League games postponed by the weather and it is very frustrating as if we would have played them both and taken six points, we would have been second in the table.”

“It’s disappointing of course but these things happen, and it’s not something that I can control, so we just have to get on with it and prepare for this weekend and Herne Bay!”

For the trip to Winches Field, Sittingbourne will hopefully have a new striker in the squad after Danny Parish signed on the dotted line on Monday after his release from Ashford United.

“Danny’s well known in the Non-League circuit; he’s a very talented lad who has scored a lot of goals at various clubs, including knocking Leyton Orient out of the FA Cup one year I remember, and he’s someone I have had my eye on for some time.”

“I nearly took him to Braintree with me in the past and I have been a style of his type of play – he’s a danger man; he’s a “fox-in-the-box” reading the game so well. He’s sharp, he works hard and scores goals!” The Gaffer told us.

“So, when I heard he was available, I spoke to him and I’m very, very pleased that he chose us over a number of Clubs – he has certainly come for all the right reasons, and I am certainly looking forward to working with him.”

“He’s different from what we have got – he has been played out wide and played in the ten but for me, Danny is someone who plays through the middle.”

“He’s a goal scorer and the goal is in the middle and not out wide,” exclaimed Maxwell grinning.

“It is very simple, and I keep it simple – the bottom line is that he can finish, and he moves like a striker, always in the right place at the right time… and that is something we have not really had to get on the end of things. I am delighted that he is now a Brickie and looking forward to seeing what he can do!”

Parish will be hoping to add to his goal scoring record for Ashford this season on ten goals in twenty four starts.
