Owner Driver Racing Returns to Buckmore Park

Buckmore Park Kart Circuit has announced a partnership with F100 Kart Club to secure the return of Owner Driver racing to the circuit in 2021.

The iconic track announced at the end 2017 race season that it would be ceasing the running of its kart club as it had become untenable and to concentrate primarily on the leisure karting side of the business.

However, the circuit maintained its MSUK track licence purposely in order to keep the doors open for an opportunity for elite-level racing to return. F100 Kart Club, established in 2014 has been running race meetings at Buckmore Park since 2015 as part of its highly successful travelling championship.

During extended talks between the two parties, an agreement was made that would see F100 Kart Club host multiple race meetings at the track from the start of 2021, marking the return of Owner Driver racing to Buckmore Park Kart Circuit.

Whilst the F100 brand pays homage to the spirit of the ’90s, widely believed to be one of the most popular eras for karting, these additional race meetings will cater for the modern classes across different age groups.

F100 Kart Club consists of the small committee of executives:- Tim Wickett, Chris Derrick and Jay Fairbrass. This arrangement allows for faster decision making and enables the team to react to changes very quickly bringing dynamism and vibrance to kart racing.

Jay commented, “We are extremely excited and honoured to have been invited to look after the Kart Club at Buckmore Park, a venue that is steeped in history and prestige. We are determined to do what ever it takes to carry that mantle forward and have no doubt that Owner Driver kart racing will flourish once more in the park with our grass-roots approach to racing.”

“Our style and ethos towards kart racing has become admired and loved by many across the country as we have travelled around visiting other venues with the F100 90’s Tour. I’d personally like to thank all the local drivers and teams for their support in this new project and we can’t wait to unveil our plans within the next few days for 2021 and beyond.”

In 2021, F100 will become the resident Kart Club at Buckmore Park offering race meetings for all MSUK classes & catering for all ages.

Traditionally, F100 is a travelling kart club and its MSUK Championship is built around members visiting kart clubs all across the UK. “The F100 90’s Tour” will continue to operate in 2021 with the vibrant and dominant series that it has become known for.

Typically, the club supports karting enthusiasts with an interest in sourcing, building, restoring and more importantly, the racing of Formula A and Formula ICA class karts from the 1980s to the year 2000.

The activities are predominantly designed around building a membership of karting enthusiasts and supporting them in every aspect of their hobby of racing karts.

The core classes include Pre 2000, Pre 95, Pre 89, Aqua and Classic TKM and now, from 2021, the club will also operate a series of owner-driver race meetings at Buckmore Park for a variety of Senior, Junior and Cadet classes including Rotax MAX, TKM, Honda Cadet, Bambino etc.
