Olsen still in the hunt
Olsen still in the hunt

Cooling’s Alex Olsen had a tough weekend in the latest round of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship.

With the weather playing havoc on Saturday Olsen qualified in fifth place for race one and he came home in fifth place, net a good haul of points and just miss out on the podium.

Race two was damage limitations for Olsen as he came home in ninth place, and one point off of Billy McConnell and twenty-three behind Tom Neave, with one round to go at Olsen’s home circuit of Brands Hatch.

Speaking after the weekend, Olsen said: “The weekend didn’t start too bad as we managed to claw back the championship points gap in the first race, so heading into race two, I really needed to make sure I got in front and just concentrate on a win or at least a podium finish. That would have put me within a chance of going to Brands Hatch with a better chance of winning.

“Unfortunately the race didn’t go to plan as I was still suffering from a similar issue that we have had for a few rounds. We managed to secure some points and still keep the championship fight alive going into my home round. The team are working hard, so I hope we can come out fighting at the final round. All we can do is try and fight for the win and see what happens.”
