Notts County v Bromley preview

Bromley face their biggest game of the season so far on Saturday when they travel up to Meadow Lane to face Notts County in a National League fixture that will go a long way in determining the final play off places.

The Ravens currently sit in eighth place, just one place below the play off zone with a total of 62 points from 39 games, only four goals worse off than Halifax Town in seventh on the same points tally.

Andy Woodman’s side are on a great run of form having lost only once since the new manager took over at the end of March. On Tuesday night Bromley won 1-0 away to Wealdstone in a hard fought victory, Joe Kizzi with the vital goal on the hour mark.

Notts County, in their second season of Non League Football since relegation from the Football League, are fifth in the table with 63 points from 38 matches played.

On Tuesday they won 4-0 at Maidenhead Utd thanks to a Jim O’Brien hattrick and one from in form striker Ruben Rodrigues. The win at York Road was their third consecutive victory, which has seen them score eleven goals and concede only three over those matches.

The Magpies have also recently changed their manager with Ian Burchnall taking the reins in March following the sacking of Neil Ardley.

Initially they struggled to find form following the change, but have recently picked up and steadily progressed back up the table.

Bromley have three league games to go this season, two of which are against County and one away to Aldershot Town. The original game at Meadow Lane was postponed back in February due to a waterlogged pitch with the teams already at the stadium leading to this unusual fixtures schedule.

In the two meetings last season, the home side won both matches 2-1, with Bromley winning at Hayes Lane in September and County winning in January 2020 at Meadow Lane.

The Ravens are still without the injured Byron Webster, Courtney Duffus & Taylor Maloney, but Watford loanee Harry Forster has returned from injury and re-joined The Ravens for the rest of the season.

Alex Mitchell also took a heavy knock at Wealdstone with Jack Holland stepping in at centre back, so Woodman may have to reshuffle his side again.

The game will be played behind closed doors due to Covid 19 Restrictions, but it can be live streamed from the Notts County website for £12. With so much at stake for both teams the take up for this service could well be huge.
