Northampton 0-4 Charlton Athletic

The Addicks turned in arguably their best performance of the season at Sixfields on Friday afternoon.

They beat a poor Northampton side 4-0, in a match played in torrential rain.
The Cobblers had no answer to the pace and trickery of Tariqe Fosu who ran them ragged all afternoon.
‎Not surprisingly, Lee Bowyer named the same team that beat Plymouth last week , albeit that he played a traditional 4-4-2 formation in this match.
Ezri Konsa, Stephy Mavididi and Josh Magennis replaced,  Harry Lennon, Taylor Maloney and Josh Umerah on the bench.
Charlton were quickly into their stride and fired a warning shot across the hosts’ bows after 11 minutes. Nicky Ajose spun in the area, but fired his shot straight at Richard O’Donnell.
But the visitors took the lead three minutes later.‎ Lewis Page delivered a fabulous cross into the box, and Ben Reeves scored the first headed goal of his career.
The Addicks really stamped their authority on the match with a second goal after 19 minutes. Ajose sold his man a super dummy.
The ball came‎ to Fosu just inside Northampton’s half. Fosu carried the ball forward , side stepping defenders on the way, and smashed the ball home.
Charlton continued ‎ to pour forward and Bauer, Aribo and Pearce all came close.

The second ‎period was only six minutes old when Fosu hit a stunning shot from 25 yards to give the Addicks a three goal lead.
Fosu and Michal Zyro had decent efforts before the visitors added a fourth with a great team goal after 80 minutes.
Mavididi and Fosu combined to get the ball to Reeves, who chipped it to the far post‎ for Magennis to head home.
Mavididi produced some magic after 81 minutes, and only a desperate stop by O’Donnell prevented him adding a fifth.
Charlton have produced their best performances of the season since Bowyer took over. They have scored six goals and kept two clean sheets.
If they can continue to play like this, they will not only qualify for the play-offs, but will fancy their chances of winning them.
