Non League Weekend Fixture Preview
Non League Weekend Fixture Preview

It’s a busy weekend once again of non league action for Kent’s clubs with many involved in the FA Trophy and FA Vase.

In the Conference Premier, Tony Burman’s Dartford welcome Hereford United to Princes Park on Saturday with both sides aiming to close the gap on the play-off places.

The Darts lost ground on the chasing pack last weekend after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Gateshead at the International Stadium.

The Bulls, meanwhile, find themselves sitting in eighth place with 13 points after a surprise 5-2 defeat to Hyde FC.

However, Dartford will be buoyed by the fact they have recorded some good results on home soil this term, beating the likes of Newport, Alfreton and Kidderminster.

On the team news front, Louis Wells and Adam Green returned to training this week, but this game might come too soon for them.

Danny Harris is also rated doubtful and will face a late fitness test.

Meanwhile, Southport host Ebbsfleet United on Saturday afternoon at the Haig Avenue with both sides hoping to widen the gap between them and the bottom five teams.

The Sandgrounders, 18th in the Blue Square Bet Premier standings with nine points, are just one position above the Fleet who have one point less, the latter on the same tally as Nuneaton Town in 20th spot.

Liam Daish’s men will, however, make the trip to Merseyside on a high having managed to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat at Forest Green last Tuesday with a 3-1 win at home to Mansfield Town four days later.

In the Conference South, Bath City prepare for the visit of ninth-placed Dover Athletic, with just one point separating the two teams in the league standings.

The eighth-placed Romans lost ground on the chasing pack after a 1-0 loss to Bromley last Saturday, while the Whites slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Hayes & Yeading United at the Crabble.

Spencer Day’s Farnborough play host to fifth-placed Welling United as they aim to bounce back from two straight defeats.

The Boro suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Boreham Wood last weekend, while the Wings came out on top against Staines Town in a five-goal thriller at Park View Road.

Tonbridge Angels prepare of the visit of fourth-placed Boreham Wood to Longmead Stadium following five consecutive draws.

The 20th-placed Angels are yet to pick up their first win of the season, while the Wood will be aiming to record a third straight victory after a 3-1 triumph over Farnborough.

Lee Hodges’ Truro City take on 13th-placed Bromley at Treyew Road as they look to banish all memories of a demoralising defeat to Maidenhead.

The White Tigers are rooted to the foot of the table after being hit with a 10-point deduction for entering administration and were hammered 8-0 by the Magpies last weekend.

The Ravens, meanwhile, have enjoyed an upturn in their recent form, recording back-to-back victories to raise their tally to eight points.
