Nevill set for busy few weeks

Alex Nevill is set to begin the most intense period in the 2020 Mini Challenge Cooper Trophy season.

As the Kent based racing driver embarks on a stint of three race weekends in four weeks with round two of the championship at Thruxton this weekend.

After an opening round where Alex and the Graves Motorsport team were held back by a clutch problem in race 1, the Motorsport UK Academy squad member currently sits a lowly 22nd in the championship points standings.

However having shown strong pace in qualifying and the second race, where he missed out on setting the fastest lap of the race by one thousandth of a second, Alex and the team know the pace is there to deliver strong results.

Although the Thruxton circuit is new to Alex, and the Hampshire track is renowned as the fastest circuit in the UK the 2018 Cooper Am champion, goes into the weekend full of confidence and ready to start a challenging few weeks.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Nevill said: “Thruxton may be a new circuit for me, but after our speed at Oulton Park I’m confident we can be on the competitive space quickly.

“It’s a really busy few weeks, with Snetterton taking place just a week after so it’s important we come out of this weekend with some good results and minimal problems so that we don’t impact our preparations for next weekend.”

Round two of the Cooper Trophy will feature a trio of 20 minute sprint races in support of the British Touring Car Championship. Race two will be included in the BTCC’s live broadcast on ITV2 at 1pm on Sunday.
