Morris joins Gills

Glenn Morris has today made his return to Gillingham, as he joins on loan until January.

Morris has joined from Crawley Town and he is expected to go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s fixture against AFC Wimbledon.

He joined the club on a one year deal in 2014 under Peter Taylor and extended that for a further season in 2015.

“Glenn is someone I know well from playing with him and against him,” the Gills boss said.

“He knows the club as well and so is a big signing for us in the short term loan. He’s completed his medical and all the paperwork is done and he’ll certainly feature at Plough Lane this weekend.”

“We’ve taken a different path after Ashley’s injury at Dover – I’d been aware of him for eighteen months plus – and was really looking forward to working with him.

“And so it became what’s available and the best option – Glenn certainly wasn’t available at the start of the summer, but since researching the market since Ash’s injury, Glenn has become available for different reasons.

“What doesn’t change is that we still think he’s a very good goal-keeper – been Player of the Year three years running I think – he knows our club, he’s local and he knows the level which was a big, big thing for me.”

“Having watched pre-season, I’ve seen that at times maybe we needed a bit of better decision making around our own final third and Glenn will bring us that!”
