More than £150,000 has been awarded to sports projects in Medway through Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.Sport England

St Mary’s Amateur Boxing Club will receive £50,000 of the National Lottery funding to help fund the development and building of
a £150,000 new club gymnasium.

Black Belt Martial Arts club will also receive £50,000 of the funding towards the development of their club building in Rainham.
The club recently achieved Clubmark, Sport England’s accreditation scheme for quality sports clubs. Clubmark is a national
scheme that accredits and recognises clubs that are committed to providing a safe, effective and child-friendly environment for
children and young people.

The club’s fundraiser Julie Bailey said: “We are overwhelmed at having receiving these funds. It has given a renewed enthusiasm
between the students and ourselves to continue to raise funds for our project, and receiving Club Mark accreditation has added
to the excitement of our project.”

Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services Cllr Howard Doe said: “In the wake of the success of the 2012 Olympic
Games we are committed to providing the best possible facilities for sport in Medway, so we are delighted that these projects
have received the support they deserve”.
