McKimm wants revenge for Angels
Steve McKimm leads his side to East Anglia as the Tonbridge Angels face not only a fellow Ryman Premier side, but also the side that beat the Angels at Longmead just seven days ago.

Speaking to KSN after Leiston stole all three league points with a last minute win at Longmead, the Angels boss obviously wasn’t in the best of moods.

He told us, “Frustrated isn’t the word for it. We played well enough to beat them today and I thought that they were very negative indeed!”

“It’s undoubted that us missing a penalty turned the game their way – though Tom Phipp’s as annoyed as the rest of us as he seemed to take half the pitch with him when he took the kick. Overall, I thought we played pretty well and deserved something out of the game.”

“We of course get an early chance for revenge in the FA Cup this weekend, and we’ll go there with confidence and the same sort of squad, but there will probably be some adjustments to the way that we played at Longmead.”

“There won’t be the pressure of League points so we’ll go there and try to enjoy ourselves, but their pitch has a bit of a slope on it, but that said, the playing surface up there is usually decent so we’ll give it a big go.”

“I’m proud of what the boys have achieved this year, and I’ll just remind our supporters of what happened last year, and just to look how far we’ve come.”

“If I have my way, I want to win every game that we’re involved in, in a way that pleases everyone watching on, and if that means that we concede a few on the way, then so be it.”

“My biggest job this week has been lifting the players after the late defeat last week. They were really down in the dressing room after the game – guess that’s another good reason for us facing Leiston again this weekend”
