McAllan makes Dynamos comeback

Former Invicta Dynamo, Invicta Mustang and Invicta Junior, Gregor McAllan, has committed to the Mos for the 2022/23 campaign and joins the roster ahead of the season commencing in September.

McAllan first joined the Invicta Junior set up in 2015/16 playing through the age groups over the next 4 years, which saw him serve as both Captain and Alternate Captain along the way.  He made the step up to senior hockey in 2018/19 when he joined the Invicta Mustangs in a two way with the Invicta Mavericks.

2019/20 saw the D Man split his ice time between the Invicta Colts, Invicta Mustangs and a new role within the Invicta Dynamos.  In that season he iced for our club 12 times, crucially serving just 2 minutes in the penalty box.

The 19 year old re-signed with the Mustangs in 2021/22 but after a recurring injury ended his season much earlier than he would have liked, a period of rest and recuperation has ensured he is now match fit and ready to return to the NIHL1.

The signing of McAllan continues the vision Lennon has of promoting from within the Invicta family and he will join his fellow Invicta Juniors, who have also taken the next steps in their ice hockey career, on the starting line-up come September.

McAllan is a young and energetic skater, and his clean style of play will hopefully ensure no unnecessary penalty minutes will leave the team short throughout the season. We are excited to see his development as the season progresses.

On returning to the Dynamos, McAllan had this to say “I’m looking forward to playing with the Dynamos as I have grown up watching them play. I’m hoping to learn a lot from the players and coaches so that I can improve not just on the ice but off as well”.

Lennon is keen to see McAllan back out on the ice for the Mos and had the following to add on the signing “Gregor joins us from the Mustangs after having an injury disrupted season. He’s on the path now to full fitness. He has huge potential as a hockey player and at 19, plenty of time to continue to realise that.”

“He is an excellent skater with a great work rate on the ice. He’ll add a different dimension to us as a team and he is capable of playing multiple positions which gives us some options come game day. I am very much looking forward to working with him”.

McAllan will wear the number 2 Jersey this season.
