After back-to-back home wins against Erith & Belvedere and Herne Bay, Sittingbourne head to Burgess Hill Town this weekend looking to stay on the tails of early season pace setters Three Bridges.

And Brickies boss Ryan Maxwell will be looking for his side to extend their five-match unbeaten League run since the opening day on the back of what was almost the “perfect” home double-header.

“We have had two very good home performances – Saturday obviously more elaborate and I suppose entertaining than midweek, but each team is different and on Tuesday we had to roll our sleeves up as we faced a different opposition, but we came through both games with maximum points.”

“I am delighted with the two clean sheets and obviously scoring eight goals in two games is another positive.”

“You have seen recently if you watched the Arsenal game last weekend that there are times where you must dig in and hang in at times, but then there are times when you cannot get the ball down and move it and be exciting to watch.”

“But on a Tuesday night with a bit of wind against a side who are clearly going to be direct and physical, you must match it, you have to be aware of it and eventually your quality on the ball you hope is the deciding factor, which it was in the end!”

“I was really pleased with the contrast of the two performances three days apart and it showed me that the team is flexible, and you need that if we are going to be successful.”

“We started looking at Burgess Hill after Tuesday – we know they are a decent side in a very competitive League where there are no easy games at all.”

“Everyone must be respected as anyone can beat anyone and Burgess Hill will be no different, so we have to be equally prepared as we were recently because you must be!”

Midfielder Jean-Baptiste Fischer missed Tuesday’s win in the Brickies first change in three games, but Maxwell is hopeful that he will be back for the weekend meaning Sittingbourne will travel with a full squad to Sussex.
