Maxwell keen to continue current form

Sittingbourne boss Ryan Maxwell is calling on his side to repeat their recent form in the final ten games of his sides league campaign starting on Saturday when Broadbridge Heath come to Swale.

The Brickies go into the game this weekend on a terrific run since Christmas, “Nine wins in ten games since New Years Day really does leave me a very proud manager, of course I am!” Maxwell enthused.

“It is a great return, but I am still bugged by the loss to Chichester, but you are entitled to your blip, but not many of them if you want to achieve what we want to and the boys are aware of that, and it cannot happen again. But I am sure that we have the bounce-back-ability if we need it to be a contender and we are as any time this season that we have been asked a question, we have bounced back, so very pleased about that and we have now ten games to go and are in a good position. It could be better off course and we are all enjoying it!”

“We have had a couple of good results and performances recently. The last home game with East Grinstead we controlled and the loan keeper we had in for the game, David Aziaya did not have a save to make in what was an extremely comfortable outing for us with good performances from everyone really.

“The day though was as we all know overshadowed by the injury to Michael Turner who I have been to see this week. We dedicate that win to Mike!”

“Last weekend we went to Ashford and despite the fact that they are sitting in mid-table, they are still a dangerous side. I know we got a great result but in truth I think that we have played a lot better this season but not been anywhere near as clinical as we were Saturday.

“We won all our battles and despite the 5-1 scoreline, they did not grumble, and it was great to see Mitchell May and Danny Parish both scoring two goals, and if you are forwards are scoring goals you have a chance to win every game you play.

“The boys are in good form; their link-up play was very good and that has happened vary quickly and I thought that all game they looked a threat, and it was great to see Danny’s second goal from Mitch’s cross down the right.”

“I was only disappointed that we conceded a goal, it was a defensive mix-up, but I’m being greedy as I’m driving for perfection as we’re now in the final ten games to go of the “final furlong” it doesn’t mean that we’re going to be relaxed at all; we’re not going accept where we are and what we do, can we get better, can we improve.

“It is not in the nature of the Club or the team, we will not stop doing what we are doing, it is going ok at the moment and long may that continue.”

Looking back to the reverse fixture, Maxwell recalled, “The away game was a tough game and we have reminded the players of that this week at training because there were moments in that game when we were a little bit slow to react to a couple of bits and pieces.

“Although we won the game reasonably comfortably in the end, but that was in the past and we will have to make sure that we are completely at it from the start and make sure that we come back away with the three points.”
