Margate Football Club have put out an appeal to fans to help them clear snow off the pitch at Hartsdown Park.

With the snowfall over the weekend, the terraces and pitch are covered in the white stuff. The club are making every effort to ensure Saturday’s match against Harrow Borough goes ahead and are appealing for volunteers to help clear the snow away.

At this stage, they will be leaving the pitch until later in the week as the snow will help to protect against frost, but the terraces need urgent attention to make them safe for Saturday’s match.

If you have some time between 9am and 5pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday then the club would welcome any help from volunteers to clear the snow. They will have some tools available but if volunteers are able to bring their own shovels, that would be helpful.

The club would also welcome volunteers today (Tuesday), but with work ongoing to clear the 5-a-Side Centre of snow as well as the stadium, any volunteers will need to bring shovels and ideally wheelbarrows to begin the clearance of the terraces.

There will be hot drinks available for all volunteers.
