League leaders Welling United start a run of Isthmian League Premier Division away games with a midweek visit to Maldon and Tiptree.

Currently, they have won six out of six home games and one out of three away so the run of three games in eight days on the road will even up their games in the table.
On Saturday, the Wings hosted AFC Whyteleafe and won one-nil with Nahum Melvin-Lambert scoring his sixth goal in the Wings’ nine league matches.
Meanwhile, Maldon were tumbling to a four-one defeat at Burgess Hill Town. They were two down at half time before conceding a third early in the second period. One of several former Welling players to have represented the Jammers’ this season, Ibby Akanbi, pulled one back three minutes later but a late goal ensured that they were well beaten.

Having had a change of ownership in September, Steve Butterworth was appointed as manager in time for the Burgess Hill game and had already brought in five new players. Despite the turmoil, they are outside the relegation zone having won three of their ten league matches this season.
One former Wing who played on Saturday will not be playing against his former club. Scott Simmonds was sent off last Tuesday in their five-one home defeat to Cray Wanderers so he will be absent through suspension.
It will be Welling’s first ever league visit to the Maldon Stadium and they will be looking to avoid falling victim of any new manager bounce.
