Maidstone Hockey to receive special visitors
Maidstone Hockey to receive special visitors

Hugh Robertson MP, Minister for Sport and Olympics and Olympic bronze medalist Beth Storry will be visiting Maidstone Hockey Club on Tuesday.

They will be arriving at the Armstrong Road pitch at about 7pm.

Both are coming to witness one of the Club’s ‘Give it a Go’ sessions aimed at encouraging people to re-try or try the sport; but it’s also for existing Club members.

The Olympics activity has really raised the interest in this first class sport, and the Club is overtly welcoming anyone to give hockey a try. Coaches will be on hand and equipment is available. Young or old, newcomer or returnee – everyone is welcome and the clubhouse will also be open.

The visit is also in recognition of the Club running a ‘hockey house’ throughout the Olympics – showing GB Hockey matches live on TV, having lots of playing events on the adjacent pitch before and after the matches, and hosting great social activities in the clubhouse itself. It was the only one in Kent.

With only 4 weeks to go until the league season starts, this is the time to get fit, hone your skills – and show off in front of the Minister and an Olympic medalist.
