Macclesfield Town 0-0 Bromley

Bromley maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought draw against fellow unbeaten opponents Macclesfield Town.

In a game of very few clear cut opportunities neither side was able to force the issue and press for victory and ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.

New signing Koby Arthur was the first to go close for the Silkmen when his rasping drive from 22 yards was tipped over the bar by David Gregory.

It took Bromley until the 20th minute to register an effort on goal, Brett Williams and Luke Wanadio combined on the edge of the box allowing the former to hit a deflected strike at goal. Shwan Jalal in the Macclesfield goal had to be alert to turn the looping strike over the crossbar.

Arthur was to be a constant threat to the Bromley backline and he was to test Gregory again on the half hour, forcing Gregory to palm away a well struck effort from distance.

Five minutes before the interval Bromley captain Jack Holland rose highest to meet Frankie Sutherland’s free kick but could only succeed in directing his effort over the crossbar.

The second half witnessed no upsurge in quality and proved to be more a test of endurance for the 1,281 fans in the ground.

Three minutes after the restart Kieran Kennedy failed to score when a goalmouth scramble presented him with an opportunity six yards out, however his effort was hacked away by Ben Wynter.

Fans had to wait until the 71st minute for the next opportunity of note. David Gregory did well to make a double save from both Arthur and Danny Whittaker as once again resolute Bromley defending prevented Macclesfield from breaking the deadlock.

That was to be as good as it got for the home side and it was Bromley who were to come closest to snatching a victory eight minutes from time. Sutherland found himself in space 22 yards from goal but his curling effort flashed just wide.

Both teams remain unbeaten following the dreary stalemate and for Bromley they head into Tuesday night’s home game against Leyton Orient with an impressive record of five points and only one goal conceded from a tough opening three games.
