The vast majority of Charlton’s squad will undergo fitness assessments on Monday and Tuesday next week, ahead of returning for pre-season training at the end of the month.

The Addicks completed the signing of versatile attacker, Billy Clarke, on Thursday but Karl Robinson still has much to do in the market before the season kicks-off on 5 August.

One position that will be giving the manager a few headaches is left-back. Adam Chicksen has been released, and Lewis Page has undegone further surgery on his hamstring‎.

Page’s fitness for the start of the season has to be a doubt, leaving Robinson without a senior left-back.

The manager is hoping to bring Chelsea youngster, Jay Dasilva, back for another loan spell, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.

The Premier League retained lists were released on Friday and neighbours, Crystal Palace, released eleven players.

One player from that list who may interest Robinson is Zeki Fryers. Fryers is a former Manchester United trainee who has also played for Standard Liege and Tottenham, and had loan spells at Ipswich and Rotherham.

He cost Palace £5,000,000 when they signed him from Spurs three years ago, but he has just nine substitute appearances to his name since switching to Selhurst Park.

Fryers may have to settle for a move lower down the pyramid in order to re-eatablish himself.

The Mancunian is now 24-years-old and needs to be playing on a regular basis.

Another player released by Palace who may appeal to Robinson is Fraizer Campbell. Campbell is something of a forgotten figure but is still only 29.

His salary demands are likely to put him out of Charlton’s reach though, and he may prefer a move to a Championship club.

Hull – where he enjoyed the best moments of his career – would seem to be the perfect fit.
