Andy Smith made a welcome return from injury as his two goals and one assist helped Invicta Dynamos on their way to an important victory on the road against the London Raiders in Lee Valley.

Invicta were also able to bring back Juraj Huska and Charlie Phillips into the side whilst Danny Terry, Grant Baxter and Chris Douglas were the only players missing from the roster.

The first period was a relatively quiet affair with Juraj Huska testing home netminder George Alley early-on but his shot was well saved. The deadlock was broken on 9:40 as Callum Fowler skated behind George Alley’s net and passed the puck back to Andy Smith who prodded the puck home from close range.

It didn’t take long for the London Raiders to equalise as the impressive Liam Chong skated clear on 12:25 to score unassisted into Mark Lee’s net. Not only would that be Liam Chong’s first goal against his former team, it was also his first goal in a London Raiders shirt.

Invicta Dynamo’s captain Anthony Leone was to the next player to score against a former team as he tucked away Invicta’s 2nd goal on 27:47 after George Alley had palmed Juraj Huska’s shot in front of Leone who couldn’t miss.

Four goals in twelve 3rd period minutes were enough to seal the point for the Invicta Dynamos. The 3rd goal came on 48:14 as Andy Smith skilfully touched Billy Phillips long slap shot into the net after Arran Strawson had carried the puck from the defensive blue line to the attacking zone.

Goal four was scored on 56:23 came as Welshman Nicky Lewis squeezed in between two London Raiders players to get on the end of Adam McNicoll’s pass to score.

With 58:45 on the clock Callum Fowler got himself a goal after Frankie Harvey played the speedy forward through to leave George Alley exposed and no chance to prevent Fowler getting a deserved goal.

To rub salt into the wounds, Frankie Harvey who departed the London Raiders for Invicta recently, scored his first goal against his former teammates on 59:51 after Billy Phillips placed the puck in front of the forward who finished off the nights scoring.

With a save percentage of 92.31% Mark Lee picked-up the man of the match awards for the away team, whilst Liam Chong picked-up the award for the hosts.
