Leyton Orient vs Bromley – Preview

After last Saturday’s FA Cup drama Bromley return to National League action with a tough trip East London to face high flying Leyton Orient.

The game would be tough enough normally for The Ravens, but they go into the game without any central midfielders as Frankie Raymond & Frankie Sutherland are both suspended, while Jordan Higgs is injured. They are also missing striker Omar Bugeil who is away on international duty with Lebanon, although Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe will be available again.

There were plenty of positives to take from last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Peterborough, The Ravens were in front prior to Raymond’s red card a minute before half time and they looked to be matching their League One opponents for long periods of the game.

Orient currently sit second in the table with 40 points from 19 games, just one point behind leaders Wrexham. Manager Justin Edinburgh has got the team playing well and much better equipped for the second season at this level.

Bromley are fourteenth with 23 points from 19 matches, doing enough to edge away from any relegation worries, but not quite enough to challenge for the top seven.

When the two sides met at Brisbane Road last season Bromley won 1-0 with a Louis Dennis strike, following an early sending off for the home side, a win that completed the double for The Ravens over The Os. Orient will no doubt be looking for revenge and a chance to set the record straight having lost the first league fixture 6-1 at Hayes Lane in August 2017.

This will be a test for Neil Smith’s squad and it’s depth with so many players missing, but they should  be cheered along by a large away support taking advantage of the Football for a Fiver offer open to all fans, which has seen the game all ticket and the home allocation sell out.
