Floodlight football returns to The Alex Yee Ladywell Arena tonight when Lewisham Borough Community FC host Tooting Bec in a Southern Counties East Football League Division One Cup Semi-final.

Current holders, Clapton Community, switched leagues in the summer so are unable to defend the cup. Therefore, new holders will be crowned this season. Lordswood have already won their semi-final and await the winners of tonight’s match.
While Tooting Bec were given a bye in the first round, Lewisham hosted AFC Greenwich Borough and were awarded a three-one victory which was the score when the match was abandoned. Andrea Carrera scored a brace with Sineen Sineen also on the score-sheet.
Nathan Freckleton scored the only goal in Tooting’s second round victory at Croydon while Borough beat SC Thamesmead two-one at home to qualify for the quarter finals. Bronum Reynolds and Shiloh Apena were on target for them on that occasion.
Yet another goalscorer, Jeffrey Oredein, saw them through to the semis with a one-nil win at Chessington and Hook while goals by Sonny Harnett-Balkwill, Antony Ogbanufe, and Benjie Robinson helped Tooting Bec to a comfortable three-nil victory over Bridon Ropes.
In the league table the visitors are in a comfortable mid-table position, seven points clear of the relegation zone. However, Lewisham have slipped into the bottom three so may enjoy the distraction of aiming for a cup final and will be hoping to replicate the outcome of the league meeting at the same stadium earlier in the month.
Robinson put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot five minutes before half time. However, second period goals by Nicholas Harvey and Oredein ensured that Lewisham claimed all three points.
