Lewisham Borough v Stansfeld preview

League leaders Stansfeld OB visit Lewisham Borough in a Southern Counties East Football League Division at the Ladywell Stadium on Monday.

Both teams come into the game on the back of Saturday victories. The Boro enjoyed a three-nil win over Sporting Club Thamesmead. Abioseh Davies put them ahead in the fifth minute and Bryan Zepo added a second just past the half hour mark. There was no further scoring until two minutes from time when Donnell Sama put the icing on their cake.

That leaves them eleven points away from the play-offs but having played two or three games fewer than the clubs in the top five, they will continue to battle for points.

Meanwhile, Stansfeld took a step further to automatic promotion with their fifth consecutive win as second placed Sutton Athletic dropped two points at home to Larkfield and New Hythe. Stansfeld’s win at Chessington and Hook was their third successive away game and was hard fought. They had to be patient and claimed the only goal through Dan Parkinson with just thirteen minutes remaining.

They are now six points ahead of Sutton having played one game fewer so a win for them would put them close to the finishing line.

When Lewisham visited Stansfeld at Foxbury back in October, a goal in each half gave the hosts the three points. Jack Carthy scored after thirty-four minutes, and Parkinson made sure of the points with a goal ten minutes after the break.

Both teams are keen to claim all three points so it should be a competitive match.
